Dr. Larry Goldenberg – Hugh Hampton Young Award
Congratulations to Dr. S. Larry Goldenberg on winning the American Urological Society’s 2017 Hugh Hampton Young Award. He received this for outstanding contributions in the study and treatment of prostatic diseases, and spearheading the development and implementation of a national men’s health program.
Dr. Elspeth McDougall – President’s citation, Endourological Society 2017 Karl Storz LifeTime Achievement Award
Congratulations to Dr. Elspeth McDougall for receiving the American Urological Association Presidential Citation for outstanding contributions to education and innovative learning methods in Urology. Dr. Elspeth McDougall was also recently honoured with the Endourological Society’s 2017 Karl Storz Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. McDougall is the first woman member of the Endourological Society, having joined the society in 1988, and also the first woman to be awarded this prestigious honour. The annual award is given to a senior endourologist whose lifetime contributions have had a major impact on the field of Endourology.
Dr. Martin Gleave – Richard D. Williams Award
Congratulations to Dr. Martin Gleave on being selected to receive the 2017 Richard D. Williams, MD Prostate Cancer Research Excellence Award. The Urology Care Foundation presents this prestigious award to individuals for their outstanding and impactful research in the field of prostate cancer over the last 10 years.

The Institute seeks to foster sustained and transformational intellectual engagement among UBC researchers and visitors.
Dr. Peter Black – Choosing Wisely Champion (AUA)
The Choosing Wisely Champions program is an initiative to recognize clinicians who are leading efforts to reduce overuse and waste in medicine. Dr. Black conducted a membership survey focused on adherence to Choosing Wisely statements, and worked with electronic medical record vendors to incorporate clinical decision support into systems to alert providers to the American Urological Association’s recommendations.
