Congratulations to Dr Art Cherkasov for being awarded the Canada Research Chair Tier 1 in Precision Cancer Drug Design !
Dr. Cherkasov is a Professor in the Department of Urologic Sciences at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada) and a Director of Therapeutics Development at the Vancouver Prostate Centre. His research interests include Computer-Aided Drug Discovery (CADD), A.I., Cheminformatics, and the development of precision cancer therapies.
Dr. Cherkasov has co-authored more than two hundred research papers, eighty patent filings and several book chapters. During his tenure at UBC, Dr. Cherkasov has been a principal applicant and a co-applicant on a number of successful grants totaling over 80M dollars. He has licensed eight drug candidates to big pharma companies, major international venture funds and spin off companies.
In 2021 Dr. Cherkasov received the UBC Faculty of Medicine Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Fundamental Science.
