Personalize Bladder Cancer Treatment

 

Researchers from the UBC Faculty of Medicine and Vancouver Prostate Centre have received a $3-million Terry Fox Frontiers Program Project Grant to transform how bladder cancer is treated, making care more personalized and helping more patients keep their bladders.

Led by Dr. Peter Black, professor and head of the UBC Department of Urologic Sciences, the team is developing new tools that use tumour DNA from blood and urine, advanced MRI imaging, and machine learning to more accurately predict and monitor treatment response. This approach aims to support more individualized treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes.
