Rohit Malyala

Rohit Malyala

Rohit Malyala grew up in Ontario, and completed his undergraduate studies at McMaster University in Health Sciences. There, he became enamoured with kidney transplant in particular, working with different nephrologists in Toronto and Hamilton to study the kidney from both a wet lab and dry lab perspective. When Rohit came to UBC for medicine, he became exposed to the surgical side of kidney transplant—which was his first introduction to the charismatic staff urologists at UBC. Over the course of medical school, taking on different projects in endourology and transplant, he became convinced that a career in urology was right for him, captured by the technical aspects of the specialty and diversity of procedures. UBC was a top choice with early and substantial surgical exposure, and the compassion and proficiency of the resident group, both inside and outside the OR. Outside of the wards, he is looking forward to exploring beautiful BC by motorcycle, staying active in the gym, and trying out different cafes in Vancouver.

Sahil Kumar

was born and raised in Mississauga, ON, where their parents and relatives settled when immigrating from India. Sahil completed a B.Sc and an M.Sc at McGill University in Montreal, QC (and learned a little French along the way). Their research interests in targeted prostate cancer therapies and involvement with the Movember Foundation brought Sahil to the west coast to work at the Vancouver Prostate Centre with Dr. Amina Zoubeidi. While in medical school at the University of British Columbia, they worked with the BC Gender Surgery Program and became involved in research that focused on improving the surgical outcomes of trans and gender-diverse patients with their mentor, Dr. Alex Kavanagh. Sahil is passionate about 2SLGBTQ+ healthcare and advocacy, and is engaged with queer community organisations in Vancouver, including TransCareBC, Health Initiative for Men, and AIDS Vancouver. They are thrilled to join the UBC Urology team and honoured to train under world-renowned surgeons and researchers!

When not in a hospital, you can usually find Sahil cooking/baking/grilling up a storm with their partner, on a patio with a hazy IPA, or overpacking for a trip to the Sunshine Coast.

Levi Godard

Levi Godard was born and raised in Summerland, British Columbia. She then attended the University of Victoria where she completed a degree in biochemistry before going to the University of British Columbia for medical school. She was happy to return to Victoria as part of the Island Medical Program. When starting medical school, she did not actually know that urology existed. However, during clerkship experiences she was drawn to the specialty and the opportunities it presented for positively impacting patient’s daily lives. Outside of work Levi is an avid reader, enjoys swimming and water sports, beach days, and spending time with her friends. She is excited to now be a part of the urology community.
